1984 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe

This is my current weekend, track driving and occasional daily driver when the weather is right toy.  I picked it up close to my birthday of '08 and have been tinkering on it since I bought it.  The specs of the car are:

  • 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe
  • 3.2L Flat 6 air-cooled engine
  • 207hp / 192 ft-lbs torque (according to factory, no telling what it actually is)
  • 5-speed manual transmission
  • 102k miles at time of purchase
  • Quartz Grey Metallic w/ black full leather interior

Of course, since this is going to be a toy car, it means it gets played with.  So without further ado, here is a run down on the modifications thus far.

Now of course, with all these small changes, you'd think I'd be done - you'd be wrong.  Since it is a toy, it is never in the perfect state.  So I have a list of things I want to do to/for it and things that I know are coming up, like an engine and transmission rebuild.

  • Body
    • Convert to a '74 RSR body
    • Polycarbonate windows
  • Suspension
    • Convert to coilovers with 935-style front suspension
  • Interior
    • Replace clock plug with something else (ideas anyone?)
  • Engine
    • Center mounted oil cooler (if needed)
    • Individual Throttle Bodies (Rothsport Racing Slide Valves)
    • 102mm Pistons and Cylinders (LN Engineering)
    • 70.4mm crankshaft
    • DC90 Cams
    • 996 GT3R Oil Pump
    • TEC-3r engine management
    • Twin-plugged heads
  • Transmission
    • rebuild
    • WEVO Transmission cooling
    • WEVO 915 bearing retainer plate
    • WEVO 915 side cover
    • Guard Transmission Limited Slip Differential - asymmetric 50/80 locking rate (acceleration / braking)

Here are some PDFs dealing with these older 911s, as I get more I'm sure the collection will grow.
