P90X Classic – Week 12 of 13

The last real workout week of P90X, week 12.  Week 13 is basically the cool down week that you see after each phase.  As an aside, I know this is Saturday and the last day for the week is Sunday, but since I’m using Sunday as a rest day I figured I’d go ahead and post this today.

Monday: Chest, Shoulders and Triceps, and Ab Ripper X

Still like this workout more than the other Monday workout.

Tuesday: Plyometrics

I went ahead and did P90X’s plyometrics just to see if I still dislike it.  The answer is yes.

Wednesday: Back and Biceps, Ab Ripper X

I love the burn I get from doing this workout.

Thursday: Yoga X

Long, and probably the hardest workout of P90X.

Friday: Legs and Back, Ab Ripper X

I still don’t get much from this one for some reason.  Maybe it just doesn’t do what I think it should.

Saturday: Kenpo X

I decided to go ahead and do the full Kenpo X.  I still think some of the moves are a little off, but in general. It isn’t too bad.

Sunday: Rest

I will be resting.

Weekly Thoughts:

Now that all I have left is the cool down week I can say one thing about P90X: if you don’t use free weights, you really should, because they are really what does the trick.

I didn’t get as much bulk as I would have liked, but I am getting much more definition around my abs and have filled out with more muscles in places where I used to not have much at all.  As to what to do next, I don’t really know.  I have P90X+ to do, but I’m not so sure I want to do a straight P90X or X+ workout.  Since I’ve got a week and then another rest week to really decide what I want to do, I’ll start figuring it out and doing some research to see what I can piece together.

P90X Classic – Week 11 of 13

Now we change it up for basically the last two weeks and then one week of rest / cool down and I’ll have completed the first round of P90X.

Monday: Chest, Shoulders and Triceps, and Ab Ripper X

I prefer this workout over the chest and back work out for sure.

Tuesday: Plyometrics

As normal, I did an Insanity workout instead.

Wednesday: Back and Biceps, Ab Ripper X

Still good on this one.

Thursday: Yoga X

I still think this and X Stretch are the two best disks in the entire series.

Friday: Legs and Back, Ab Ripper X

This one still doesn’t do a lot for me, but I know it needs to be done.

Saturday: Kenpo X

Skipped this one today, New Years Eve Parties are awesome, but they sure take a lot out of you.  I took my dog for a ride and then for a walk in place of the workout.  Not as good as the workout, but it was something and it was good.

Sunday: Rest

I chose rest since I’ll be heading into work tomorrow morning (hence my posting this on a Saturday).

Weekly Thoughts:

I messed up the ordering of the weeks here.  It wasn’t supposed to be two weeks of one workout routine, then two weeks of another, I was supposed to alternate this one with the one I was doing for two weeks.  Not that it really matters though.

P90X Classic – Week 10 of 13

Now this is the last week we do this one since we start to redo the second phase workouts for the two weeks after this.

Monday: Chest & Back and Ab Ripper X

Not a bad workout at all, still getting up early to do the workouts.

Tuesday: Plyometrics

Jumping around and doing all that stuff is a lot of fun.

Wednesday: Shoulders & Arms and Ab Ripper X

I really like the shoulders and arms stuff.

Thursday: Yoga X

A lot of good stretching, eve though it takes a long time.

Friday: Legs & Back and Ab Ripper X

Got a day off so I got to sleep in for a while.

Saturday: Kenpo X

XMAS!!! YEAH! I’m taking a day off.

Sunday: Rest or X Stretch

Resting again.

Weekly Thoughts

I’m getting near the end and I’m seeing the finish line.

P90X Classic – Week 9 of 13

Ahh, here we are, the last phase of the system.

Monday: Chest & Back and Ab Ripper X

Well, after a week off thanks to adjusting to a new work schedule, I’m back at it.  This chest and back exercising is a lot of pull ups and push ups.  So I was all ready for them, it’s a great way to wake up in the morning.

Tuesday: Plyometrics

Yum, yum plyometrics.  Jumping, jogging and making a lot of noise from moving.  Great stuff.

Wednesday: Shoulders & Arms and Ab Ripper X

Arms, shoulders, abs, they burn.  I suppose this is a good thing, yes? 🙂

Thursday: Yoga X

1.5 hours of stretching, its pretty good stuff.

Friday: Legs & Back and Ab Ripper X

I like the legs and back routine, just sometimes I don’t feel it does what I want it to do.

Saturday: Kenpo X

I didn’t feel like doing Kenpo X so I did an Insanity routine.

Sunday: Rest or X Stretch

I’m choosing rest today.

Weekly Thoughts

I’m working out early in the morning now, the workouts do a nice job of waking me up.  Plus when I get home it allows me to focus on school-work instead of trying to cram a lot more stuff into a finite amount of time before bedtime.

P90X Classic – Week 8 of 13

Alrighty, we’re 2/3 of the way done after this week and moving in a very good direction I believe.  This is the “rest” week after the second phase, so the 3rd and final phase starts the week after this.  Of course, once I’m done with this round of P90X I think another round will be needed since I was using the resistance bands for about half of the routines and they just don’t work as well as free weights in my opinion.

Monday: Yoga X

A nice bit of stretching and breathing, although sometimes I feel 1.5 hours is a bit long…

Tuesday: Core Synergistics

Not a bad workout, although for core muscle workouts, I prefer Insanity.

Wednesday: Kenpo X

I just did an Insanity workout here — Core Cardio.

Thursday: X Stretch

Stretching is good stuffs, especially when you sleep funny and wake up with a crick in your neck.  This helped remove it.

Friday: Core Synergistics

Still think I prefer Insanity over this.

Saturday: Yoga X

Sort of like X Stretch this, with more breathing emphasis.

Sunday: X Stretch or Rest

I chose rest, again.

Weekly Thoughts

I’m not a total fan of these rest weeks, I’d much prefer to just hunker down and run through the phases without stopping and then at the end take just a week break from all exercise then start up again the week after.

P90X Classic – Week 7 of 13

Week 7 of 13 and it is falling on Thanksgiving Week.. so no stuffing myself silly this week.  I’m making some modifications to P90X to integrate more Insanity routines into the workout.

Monday: Chest, Shoulders & Triceps, Cardio Abs (Insanity)

Yeah, this one burned a lot.  It was good.

Tuesday: Plyometric Cardio Circuit (Insanity)

Made it through this one ok.  It still tires the heck out of me when I do this disk.

Wednesday: Back & Biceps, Cardio Abs (Insanity)

Ok, wow, this workout still knocks the stuffing out of my arms and back every time.  Hopefully I won’t be sore for a few days afterward this time.

Thursday: Yoga X

The stretching is a good thing, especially after my non-traditional Thanksgiving of Harry Potter at the Alamo Drafthouse for lunch, then a 4 cheese pizza and red wine for dinner.

Friday: Legs & Back, Cardio Abs (Insanity)

Legs and back I do although I find the exercises a little boring for some reason.  Could be because I do a lot of biking and going up and down stairs all the time.

Saturday: Pure Cardio

I still love the Insanity workouts a whole heck of a lot.

Sunday: X Stretch or Rest

Today, I chose rest.

Weekly Thoughts

Free-weights are definitely the way to go with P90X.  I started working out more in the morning instead of the afternoon and I like working out in the morning a lot more.. even if it is before 6am that I am starting the workout.
